Premature baby Tanem, who was born at 31 weeks weighing 1,370 grams and clung to life, was discharged in good health after 30 days of treatment at Private Egekent Hospital.
Tanem Tunçer, the eagerly awaited second child of Hande and Özgür Tunçer from Izmir, was born at 31 weeks weighing 1,370 grams. Due to respiratory failure associated with premature birth, baby Tanem was admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit at Private Egekent Hospital. To help Tanem regain her health, Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Soysal, Pediatrics Specialist Dr. Muhammed Hafit Arvas, and the neonatal team mobilized. Baby Tanem, who began her treatment connected to a ventilator, was discharged in good health after 30 days when she was able to feed adequately with breast milk.
“Her recovery is our source of happiness”
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Soysal, Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist, emphasized their efforts to help babies go through these challenging processes in the best way possible, saying: “We discharged them in good health and continue hospital check-ups. Their weight and health are currently very good. Delivering babies back to their parents healthy is our source of happiness.”
“Discharged at 2,220 grams”
Pediatrics Specialist Dr. Hafit Arvas, who carried out the follow-up and treatment of baby Tanem in the neonatal unit, said: “We call babies born before 38 weeks premature. These little ones are forced to spend part of the time they should have spent in the womb outside instead. With today’s technology, we help premature babies complete their development by providing an environment close to the mother’s womb. Since our baby’s lungs were not fully developed at birth, she was supported with a ventilator. With the various treatments we applied, she was discharged healthy at a weight of 2,220 grams. We are happy as well.”
“We are happy to have our child with us”
Hande and Özgür Tunçer, who expressed their happiness at holding their child healthy in their arms, said: “We came from Izmir. Upon recommendation, we consulted Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Soysal. He supported us throughout the entire treatment process. After our child’s birth, Dr. Hafit Arvas also continued to provide his support, along with the nurses on duty. They helped our baby regain her health. We are happy to have our child with us.”
