In 2008, Ali Gültekin had his first heart attack in Denizli. As his smoking habit continued, he suffered multiple heart attacks in the following years. 41-year-old Ali Gültekin, living in Denizli, experienced his first heart attack in 2008. After an angiography revealed narrowing, a stent was placed in his artery. However, since he could not quit smoking, he was admitted to the hospital again in 2011 with chest pain. Following another angiography, bypass surgery was decided, but as he continued smoking, his chest pain reoccurred on March 21, 2022.

Ignoring his symptoms, Gültekin lost consciousness after his second heart attack. He was taken to Denizli State Hospital by ambulance, where he received heart massage for 45 minutes. After this intensive effort, he was revived. Gültekin was treated with life support at Denizli State Hospital for 10 days before being discharged.
**Pacemaker implanted to prevent recurrence**
After repeatedly experiencing heart attacks and several near-death incidents, Gültekin applied to Private Egekent Hospital on April 4. Cardiology Specialist Dr. Fatih Çam detected severe narrowing in one of his arteries, and after placing a stent, he was discharged. However, when his symptoms reappeared, Gültekin returned on April 19. This time, to prevent further incidents, a pacemaker with a defibrillator feature was implanted.
Dr. Fatih Çam, who restored Gültekin’s health through this successful procedure, said:
“Mr. Ali is only 41 years old, but due to his continued smoking, he has had several heart problems and near-death experiences. To prevent a recurrence, we implanted a pacemaker with a defibrillator feature and restored his health.”
Emphasizing the risks of continued smoking, Dr. Çam added:
“We discharged our patient after receiving his promise that he would quit smoking.”
