Denizli Private Egekent Hospital Urology Specialist Assoc. Prof. Taha Numan Yıkılmaz shared important information about bladder cancer. In this disease, where symptoms often progress silently, early diagnosis can both prevent the disease from advancing and lead to promising treatment outcomes.
Assoc. Prof. Yıkılmaz stated that bladder cancer can progress without showing symptoms, especially in its early stages, and emphasized:
“The most common symptom of bladder cancer is painless blood in the urine. Although this is often ignored, it is actually an important warning sign. In addition, frequent urination, burning sensation during urination, and an urgent need to urinate are also among the other symptoms of the disease.”
More Successful and Less Challenging Treatment with Early Diagnosis
In most cases detected at an early stage, complete recovery is possible with surgical intervention, stressed Assoc. Prof. Yıkılmaz, adding that in advanced stages, the treatment process becomes more complex.
“Individuals over the age of 50, smokers, and those exposed to chemicals for long periods are at risk. People in these groups should not neglect their regular check-ups.”
Fast and Accurate Diagnosis with Modern Methods
Today, with advanced medical technologies, bladder cancer can be diagnosed at an early stage, explained Assoc. Prof. Yıkılmaz:
“Through cystoscopy, urine cytology, and various imaging methods, the diagnostic process has become both faster and more accurate. This means a more comfortable and effective treatment process for our patients.”
Awareness Saves Lives
Highlighting the need to increase awareness of bladder cancer in society, Assoc. Prof. Yıkılmaz said: “Early diagnosis is our strongest weapon in the fight against this disease. Symptoms should not be underestimated, and regular health check-ups should not be neglected.”
