Born at 27 weeks weighing 1150 grams, premature baby Ahmet Asaf Demircan clung to life and was discharged in good health after 56 days of treatment at Private Egekent Hospital.
The eagerly awaited first child of Ayşe and Tamer Demircan, Ahmet Asaf Demircan, was admitted to Private Egekent Hospital at 7 months due to the risk of premature birth. In order for baby Ahmet Asaf to regain his health, Pediatric Health and Diseases Specialist Dr. Gülay Gün Or, Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist Dr. Suna Yazıcı, and the neonatal team mobilized. Admitted to the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit, the baby received long-term treatment and was connected to a ventilator for a period of time. Later, echocardiography results revealed Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), for which PDA closure treatment was applied. After 56 days of treatment, with no further need for oxygen support and being able to feed sufficiently with breast milk, baby Ahmet Asaf reached 2.55 kilograms and was discharged. Experiencing the joy of returning home with their long-awaited first child, Ayşe and Tamer Demircan were delighted to finally hold their healthy baby in their arms.
“Discharged at 2.55 kilograms”
Pediatric Health and Diseases Specialist Dr. Gülay Gün Or, who monitored and treated Ahmet Asaf in the neonatal unit, said: “We call babies born before the 37th week of pregnancy premature babies. These little ones are forced to spend part of the time they should be in the womb outside. With today’s technology, we help premature babies complete their development by providing an environment close to that of the womb. When Ahmet Asaf was born, his lung development was not complete, so he was supported with a ventilator. After applying various treatment methods and providing support, he was discharged in good health at 2.55 kilograms. We are also very happy.”
“His recovery is our source of happiness”
Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist Dr. Suna Yazıcı, who expressed that they strive to help babies overcome difficult processes in the best way, said: “We discharged them in good health, and we continue their hospital check-ups. Their weight and health are currently very good. Giving babies back to their parents in good health is a source of happiness.”
“Our baby regained his health”
Father Tamer Demircan stated that they went through a difficult process but it ended happily: “Our baby was born very early. He was so tiny that we were afraid to touch him. But he clung to life, and we are very happy. Our baby is very healthy now.”
Mother Ayşe Demircan expressed the joy of finally holding her baby in her arms in good health after such a difficult period and thanked the doctors.
