Plastic surgery can be broadly classified as reconstructive or aesthetic surgery, depending on whether it is performed primarily to restore function or to change physical appearance.
Reconstructive plastic surgery is a treatment used to improve dysfunctional body parts (related to impairment in the function of a structure or organ). While it may also alter a person’s appearance, its primary goal is to restore function. For example, repairing structures damaged by trauma with various tissue grafts, or reattaching a severed part through microsurgery.
Aesthetic plastic surgery procedures, techniques, and principles are entirely focused on improving the patient’s appearance. The plan is different for each patient. The aim here is to achieve a more beautiful, more attractive, and younger look without losing naturalness. These results can be achieved through procedures such as fillers performed in outpatient conditions or through aesthetic operations. Almost every part of the head, neck, and body can undergo an aesthetic procedure or surgery.
