Denizli Egekent Hospital Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist Op. Dr. İsmet Çerçi warned about sudden temperature changes that occur during the spring season.

Dr. İsmet Çerçi said: “As we approach the early spring season, when there are temperature changes—warm during the day but cold in the evening—being exposed to drafts at home through open doors and windows, or in cars through opposite open windows, can cause rapid temperature shifts that affect our immune system and create a predisposition to infections. Despite the sunshine, low air temperatures can be misleading.

Sudden weather changes affect adults, but they impact children even more. Due to their sensitive nature, children are more prone to illnesses. Tonsil and adenoid diseases, which are common in childhood, also increase with sudden weather changes.

Children of preschool and school age are exposed to more microorganisms, which further triggers these illnesses. Dressing according to the temperature, eating well, and avoiding lack of sleep help keep our immune system strong,” he said.
