Op. Dr. Tuğrul Çelebi explained the most frequently asked questions about Botox and filler applications

Pointing out that interest in aesthetics and beauty has increased with the return to normal daily life after the 2-year pandemic, Denizli Özel Egekent Hospital Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery Specialist Op. Dr. Tuğrul Çelebi explained the most frequently asked questions about Botox and filler applications.

Stating that the demand for Botox and filler applications has increased among those who want to look good after the Covid-19 pandemic, Egekent Hospital Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery Specialist Op. Dr. Tuğrul Çelebi said, “The pandemic process was a lost two years in people’s lives. With the fear of illness and overcoming those difficult times, people’s perspectives on life and themselves have changed. They started to take better care of themselves, pay more attention, and invest in themselves. Normally, there is an increase in all aesthetic operations and procedures during the summer period, but this increase was much greater after the pandemic,” he said.

“Delay aging”

Stating that Botox is a toxin obtained from a bacterium called clostridium botulinum, Op. Dr. Tuğrul Çelebi said, “By injecting this toxin into the targeted area, muscle movements are reduced, preventing skin folds caused by muscle activity. In this way, the formation of wrinkles is prevented, and existing wrinkles are reduced. Especially as the years go by, wrinkles on the forehead, around the eyes, and lips increase and become more noticeable. Preventing or reducing these wrinkles with Botox makes it possible to have a younger-looking face,” he said.

Emphasizing whether there is an age criterion for Botox applications, Op. Dr. Tuğrul Çelebi said:

“One of the most frequently asked questions is at what age Botox can be done. Botox is applied when dynamic wrinkles, which are formed by facial expressions, begin to appear. When these wrinkles become permanent and deeper, the applications are done either more frequently, at higher doses, or in combination with fillers. Sometimes people in their thirties may not have wrinkles yet, while in their twenties wrinkles may tend to deepen. Genetic factors, skin structure, lifestyle, and habits such as alcohol and smoking all play a role in this.”

Emphasizing that filler applications should not be confused with Botox, Op. Dr. Tuğrul Çelebi said, “Botox and filler are often confused. However, they are two completely different procedures. Fillers contain hyaluronic acid, which is a building block of collagen. Fillers are used for sagging caused by aging and gravity, volume loss, and deeper wrinkles,” he said.

Sweating and chewing Botox

Providing information about sweating Botox and masseter (chewing muscle) Botox, which are also of great interest, Op. Dr. Tuğrul Çelebi shared the following information:

“Sweating Botox is one of the most common procedures we perform, especially during the hot summer months. Sweating Botox is applied to the armpits, hands, and soles of the feet. With this procedure, people can get rid of socially challenging problems. Masseter Botox, also known as chewing muscle Botox, is a method used for the treatment of teeth clenching and grinding. In suitable patients, it protects the jaw joint and prevents tooth wear. At the same time, it slims and reshapes the lower part of a wide face into a V-shape, giving the face a more oval appearance.”
