Egekent Hospital Dermatology Specialist Dr. Osman Aydın:
“With the warming weather, complaints about skin spots are increasing”
Denizli Private Egekent Hospital Dermatology Specialist Dr. Osman Aydın stated that with the warming weather, skin spots can occur and said: “With the arrival of summer, due to excessive exposure to sunlight, complaints about skin spots are increasing.”
Emphasizing that skin spots negatively affect skin beauty, Dr. Osman Aydın said, “Prolonged exposure to the harmful rays of the sun causes spots on the skin, leading to an undesirable appearance. Spots that become permanent on the skin can darken further with sunlight.”
“It’s beneficial to take precautions before going out in the sun”
Speaking about the precautions to be taken before going out in the sun, Dr. Osman Aydın said: “Prolonged exposure to sunlight should be avoided. Sunscreen with at least SPF 30 should be applied half an hour before going out in the sun. This also applies to the winter season. After using products with chemical content such as perfume or cologne, it is beneficial to protect those parts of the body from the sun.”
“Pregnant women need to be more careful”
Specifically warning pregnant women about skin spots, Dr. Osman Aydın made the following recommendations:
“Especially during pregnancy, the skin becomes prone to spot formation, so pregnant women should be careful about sun exposure. Hats and protective clothing should be worn; UV-protective sunglasses should be used.”
“Spot formation can also be caused by different factors”
Mentioning that the problem of skin spots increasing during summer can also have different causes, Dr. Osman Aydın said:
“Although skin spot problems caused by sunlight are common, there can be different reasons for spot formation. Genetic factors, pregnancy, the use of poor cosmetic products, hormonal medications, and acne can also cause spot formation. However, regardless of the cause, excessive sun exposure can make these spots darker.”
