Nutrition and Dietetics

The Nutrition and Dietetics department helps healthy individuals improve their eating habits and supports patients with chronic conditions in building a nutrition plan that fits their treatment. Our dietitians offer personalised advice, taking into account the patient's age, health status, laboratory results and lifestyle.

The nutritional counselling offered in our department is used both to determine the nutritional needs of inpatients and to review the eating patterns of outpatients.

Personalised Nutrition Planning

When a nutrition plan is drawn up, the patient's current health problems, any allergies and intolerances, daily routine and eating habits are all considered together.

This approach aims to make the recommended plan sustainable and compatible with the patient's lifestyle. The plan can be revised later according to the patient's changing needs.

When Might You Need a Dietitian?

Some of the situations in which dietitian support may be helpful are:

  • Nutritional management in diabetes and metabolic disorders
  • Management of excess weight and obesity
  • Nutrition during pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Nutrition appropriate to growth and development in childhood
  • Nutritional support in kidney and liver disease
  • Nutritional management before and after surgery

Healthy Eating Habits

A balanced and regular diet plays an important part in maintaining general health. Our dietitians offer advice on improving eating habits in line with current scientific evidence.

People with a health problem that requires dietary management are advised to work with a doctor and a dietitian rather than following diet programmes on their own.
